Intravenous Parecoxib for Pain Relief after Orthopedic Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Pain Ther . 2022 Sep;11(3):771-787.A meta-analysis of twenty-seven randomized controlled trials was conducted to compare the effect of intravenous parecoxib on postoperative pain and opioid consumption compared to a placebo or other active treatment. Subgroup analyses of surgery types (lumbar spine, hip/knee arthroplasty, other surgery) were also conducted. Pain scores at rest favoured the parecoxib group at 12h, 24h, and 48h after surgery and with movement at 24h and 48h. Morphine consumption over 24h favoured the parecoxib group after THA, TKA, and other orthopaedic surgeries.
