TRAUMA
Anterior knee pain after intramedullary nailing of fractures of the tibial shaft. A prospective, randomized study comparing two different nail-insertion techniques.

OE Journal. 2014;2(16):35 J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2002 Apr;84-A(4):580-550 patients with a tibial shaft fracture and undergoing intramedullary nailing were randomized to undergo treatment with paratendinous or transtendinous nailing. Over a follow-up of 3 years, patients were assessed for anterior knee pain and function, muscle strength, and Lysholm, Tegner, and Iowa knee scoring systems. Patients in the two groups were not found to have significantly different outcomes in any of these measures.
