Transdermal buprenorphine plus oral paracetamol vs an oral codeine-paracetamol combination for osteoarthritis of hip and/or knee: A randomised trial
Osteoarthritis Cartilage; 2011; 19;:930-938220 elderly patients with osteoarthritis (OA) hip or knee pain were randomized to receive either buprenorphine patches plus oral paracetamol or co-codamol tablets. The results of this study indicated that pain scores significantly improved in both groups after treatment. Additionally, that patients who received co-codamol tablets required significantly more ibuprofen.
