Posterior cruciate-retaining versus posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2014 Mar;22(3):556-64Eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included in this meta-analysis comparing the outcomes of posterior-stabilized (PS) and cruciate-retaining total knee arthroplasty. Outcomes of interest included range of motion, flexion angle, extension angle, clinical measures (knee society scores), survivorship, and complications. Pooling indicated significantly greater ROM and flexion with PS TKA designs; however, ROM was only evaluated using 2 studies, and it is unknown if the differences identified were clinically significant. There were no significant differences noted in any other outcomes.
