Comparative efficacy of different doses of fibrin sealant to reduce bleeding after total knee arthroplasty

To study the effects of fibrin sealant dosages, 90 patients were randomized to three groups: 30 patients in 5 ml fibrin sealant group, 30 patients in 10 ml fibrin sealant group, and 30 patients in no treatment group. The treated groups had significantly lower blood transfusion rates and a lesser reduction in haemoglobin concentrations during the first preoperative day, and better functional recovery (ROM) compared to the control. 5 ml dosage had comparable outcomes to 10 ml dosage of fibrin sealant.
