2018 OTA Annual Meeting: Platelet-Rich Plasma for Acute Achilles Tendon Rupture: A Double-Blind Multicenter Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2018;6(20):19230 patients with an acute Achilles tendon rupture and elected for nonoperative treatment were randomized to a platelet rich plasma injection or to dry needling. Patients were followed for 24 weeks after treatment. Primary outcome of Limb Symmetry Index on the heel-rise endurance test demonstrated no significant difference between groups. Additionally, secondary outcomes of patient-reported function and health-related quality-of-life demonstrated no significant differences between groups.
