Effectiveness of Postoperative Analgesic Immobilization in Patients with Distal Radius Fracture Treated with Volar Locking Plating: A Prospective, Randomized Clinical Trial
39 patients with an intra-articular distal radius fracture requiring volar plate fixation were randomized to postoperative management with either splint immobilization or conventional bandaging. Patients were assessed for pain scores for the first 2 weeks after surgery, and function and wrist range of motion over the first 6 months after surgery. Tramadol use during hospitalization was also monitored. Results demonstrated no statistically significant differences between groups in any outcome measure.
