UK Wound Management of Open Lower Limb Fractures (UK WOLLF): A Randomized Controlled Trial of Standard Wound Management Versus Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in the Treatment of Adult Patients with an Open Wound Fracture of the Lower Limb
460 patients with an open lower limb fracture were randomized to either negative pressure wound therapy or standard dressings following debridement. The primary outcome was disability at 12 months. Secondary outcomes included surgical site infection rate, complication rate, and resource use. At 12 months, no significant difference between groups was observed in disability score. There was also no significant difference in infection rate between groups.
