2019 OTA Annual Meeting: Simple Decompression versus Anterior Transposition of the Ulnar Nerve: 2-Year Follow-up of a Randomized Trial

58 patients with displaced, distal humerus fractures who were treated with a bicolumnar plate fixation were randomized to receive either simple decompression or anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve. The primary outcome of interest was the ulnar nerve entrapment score (Gabel and Amadio). Secondary outcomes included the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), the Short-Form 36 Physical and Mental Component Scores (SF-36 PCS; SF-36 MCS), and satisfaction on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). 2 year results showed no significant differences in all outcomes between the simple decompression and anterior transposition groups.
