2019 OTA Annual Meeting: General Health Outcomes Following Distal Clavicle Fractures: Results From a Previous Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2019;7(20):1257 patients with displaced, distal clavicle fractures were randomized to receive surgical treatment or conservative treatment. The outcomes of interest included the Short Form 36 Mental and Physical Component Scores (SF-36 MCS; SF-36 PCS). A regression analysis was performed to determine whether baseline characteristics predict general health status at 2 years. Results revealed no significant differences between the two groups in both the SF-36 MCS and PCS scores at all time points. In the conservative group, male patients and injuries to the dominant side were associated with higher SF-36 PCS scores. In the surgical group, male patients were associated with higher SF-36 MCS scores.
