Are Continuoues Femoral Nerve Catheters Beneficial for Pain Management After Operative Fixation of Tibial Plateau Fractures? A Randomized Trial
42 patients with tibial plateau fractures were included in this trial to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of femoral nerve blocks combined with intravenous morphine PCA in comparison to intravenous morphine PCA, alone. The result of this trial indicated that femoral nerve blocks did not significantly reduce pain or narcotic consumption over the first 72 postoperative hours when compared to intravenous morphine PCA alone.
