Five randomized controlled trials for a total of 327 patients with non-specific neck pain were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis assessing the effectiveness of osteopathic manipulative treatment vs. control (sham/no intervention; or exercise). The outcomes of interest included pooled pain level and functional status. The meta-analysis results revealed significantly better pooled pain level and functional status improvement with osteopathic manipulative treatment vs. control. Future high-quality RCTs are required to improve the quality of evidence on the topic.
