Osteoinductive gel in cementless hip joint replacement: A randomized prospective study
Current Orthopaedic Practice: November/December 2009 - Volume 20 - Issue 6 - pp 655-659120 patients undergoing hip replacement surgery were randomized to have their implant coated with osteinductive gel or to not be coated with any substance before implant fixation. A mean follow up of 16 months was conducted to compare the gel’s effect on operating time, blood loss, clinical and functional results of the procedure. Although the gel increased the surgical time, it significantly reduced blood loss and increased clinical and functional recovery within 6 months.
