81 patients with a single osteochondral lesion of the talus, who had undergone arthroscopic microfracture, were randomized to postoperative treatment with early or delayed weight bearing. The results of the study indicated that there were no significant differences over a 36 month period in pain or function between the patients that underwent early or late weight bearing. The use of early weight bearing postoperative regimens did not appear to be detrimental to recovery in patients with a single osteochondral lesion of the talus, treated by arthroscopic microfracture.
