OE Journal. 2013;1(2):116 Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2008 Apr;16(4):498-505. Epub 2007 Sep 6.167 patients (>18 yr old) with severe symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive 6 intrarticular injections of either Orthokin or saline, as placebo, over a 3 week period. The purpose of this study was to compare improvement in pain and function between injection therapies. At 12 months, Orthokin-treated patients consistently showed higher improvement than placebo-treated patients in most of the outcome measures. However, this difference was statistically significant only for KOOS symptom and KOOS sport scores.
