The efficacy of oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for rotator cuff tendinopathy: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

OE Journal. 2014;2(10):30 J Rehabil Med. 2014 Mar 31;46(4):294-306. doi: 10.2340/16501977-1800.12 randomized control trials comparing oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to any another intervention for adult patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy were included in this systematic review/meta-analysis. Upon analysis, low to moderate grade evidence supports the use of oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for short-term pain relief compared to placebo. In addition, NSAIDs were as clinically effective as corticosteroid injections with respect to short-term pain relief and function in patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy.
