Operative versus nonoperative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures in adults: a systematic review
Eur J Orthop Surg Traumatol. 2014 Oct;24(7):1047-53.5 randomized controlled trials (n=369) were included in this systematic review to compare operative and nonoperative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures in adults with respect to fracture healing, complications and functional outcome. Collective analysis revealed significant difference in time to union, and functional scores at 6 and 12 months between operative and non-operative interventions. Major secondary surgery was more frequent in the nonoperative group, whereas minor secondary surgery was more frequent in the operative group.
