The effect on knee-joint load of instruction in analgesic use compared with neuromuscular exercise in patients with early knee osteoarthritis: a randomized, single-blind, controlled trial
93 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to participate in a neuromuscular exercise program (NEMEX), or receive pharmacological intervention with acetaminophen and oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (PHARMA). The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of the two treatments on knee joint loading during walking and patient-reported pain and function. The findings of this study indicated no significant differences between groups in the change in outcome measures after 8 weeks of treatment.
