Norepinephrine useful in reducing hypotension & bradycardic events in rotator cuff repair .
The effect of norepinephrine versus epinephrine in irrigation fluid on the incidence of hypotensive/bradycardic events during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with interscalene block in the sitting position
Arthroscopy. 2015 May;31(5):800-6One hundred and nineteen patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomly assigned to a norepinephrine (0.66 mg/L) group or an epinephrine (0.33 mg/L) group to evaluate the efficacy of each treatment. The findings showed that the occurrence rate of hypotensive and bradycardic events (HBEs) was significantly greater in the epinephrine group, but no significant differences were seen between groups in average time of onset of HBEs, accompanying symptoms, and clarity of the visual field.
