The Efficacy of Oral Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Medication (NSAID) in the Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis: A Randomized, Prospective, Placebo-Controlled Study
Foot Ankle Int. 2007 Jan;28(1):20-3.29 patients with plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) or a placebo in combination with conservative therapies (night-splinting, visioelastic heel cups and heel-cord stretching) over the course of 6 months. Results demonstrated that the use of NSAIDs in combination with conservative therapies may provide pain relief and decrease disability in patients with plantar fasciitis. Further studies with a larger population are required to determine statistical significance in using NSAIDs versus a placebo.
