Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair With and Without Subacromial Decompression: A Prospective Randomized Study
Arthroscopy. 2007 Jan;23(1):81-8.80 patients requiring arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to either receive surgical treatment with subacromial decompression or without subacromial decompression. After surgery, patients were required to have the operative limb placed in a sling for 3 weeks, followed by a 16-week rehabilitation program. Results showed that after the 2-year follow-up, outcomes were similar regardless of whether subacromial decompression was or was not performed during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery.
