Compressive Stockings After Hindfoot and Ankle Surgery

87 patients scheduled for surgery at the hindfoot or ankle were randomized to either compressive stocking use from day 14 after surgery to 6 weeks, or to no compressive stocking intervention. Patients were assessed for swelling reduction, pain reduction, and functional improvement after 12 weeks. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in any of the assessed outcome measures. Less than 50% of patients allocated the compressive stockings were compliant with prescribed use (ie. >80% of prescribed use).
