A Randomized Clinical Trial of Cementless Femoral Stems With and Without Hydroxyapatite/Tricalcium-Phosphate Coating
J Arthroplasty. 2007 Jun;22(4):504-8. Epub 2007 Mar 969 patients (84 hips) were randomized to receive one of two treatments as part of total hip arthroplasty (THA). The first group received hydroxyapatite/tricalcium-phosphate coated stems and the second group received non-coated stems. The outcomes being examined were clinical and radiographic results. Results indicated that there were no significant differences in the clinical and radiographic outcomes between the two groups.
