No Difference in the KOOS Quality of Life Subscore Between Anatomic Double-Bundle and Anatomic Single-Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction of the Knee: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial With 2 Years' Follow-up

120 patients scheduled for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction were randomized to either double-bundle (DB) or single-bundle (SB) reconstruction. Primary outcome was the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) Quality of Life (QoL) subscale. Secondary outcomes included the remaining KOOS subscales, manual and instrumented tests for knee laxity, Tegner activity scale, and incidence of adverse events. Follow-up was scheduled for 1 and 2 years postoperatively. For the primary outcome, results demonstrated no significant differences between the DB and SB group for improvement in KOOS QoL scores. Additionally, no statistically significant differences were observed between groups in secondary measures.
