Wrist Mobilization Following Volar Plate Fixation of Fractures of the Distal Part of the Radius

J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2008 Jun;90(6):1297-304.

60 patients, older than 18 years of age, presenting with an isolated fracture of the distal part of the radius were treated with a single fixed angle volar plate. Patients were randomized to commence either early (2 weeks) or late (6 weeks) motion of the wrist to assess difference in wrist function. The late initiation of wrist exercises after volar plate fixation did not result in decreased wrist range of motion compared with the early initiation of wrist motion.
