The effect of knee bracing on the knee function and stability following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

7 studies (440 patients) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing knee bracing and no knee bracing following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Outcomes of interest included the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) objective score, the Lysholm score, side-to-side difference, the single-leg hop test, Tegner score and pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Included studies had a minimum follow up of 2 years. Meta-analysis results revealed no significant difference between the knee bracing and no bracing groups in all pooled outcomes.
