Abduction treatment in stable hip dysplasia does not alter the acetabular growth: results of a randomized clinical trial

One hundred and thirty-seven infants with well-centered stable dysplastic hips were randomized to receive 12 weeks of Pavlik harness or active surveillance. The primary outcome of interest was bony roof angle and Graf classification. Additional outcomes of interest included acetabular index angle. Results revealed that there were no significant differences between both groups in all outcomes at all time points, suggesting that in infants with well-centered stable dysplastic hips, Pavlik harness does not significantly improve hip development.
