No difference between standard and high flexion cruciate retaining total knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomised controlled study
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2015 Jun;23(6):1591-7.69 participants were randomized to receive either a high-flexion or standard device for cruciate retaining total knee arthroplasty to treat end-stage knee osteoarthritis. The goal of this study was to determine if post-operative range of motion was increased with the high-flexion device. Results indicated that there was no significant difference between the two groups for degree of flexion, Knee Society Score, or Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) scores at 36 months. A significant difference was found in favor of the standard device in the WOMAC subscore B at day 28, but the difference was not sustained.
