Abduction Brace Versus Antirotation Sling After Arthroscopic Cuff Repair: The Effects on Pain and Function

44 patients scheduled for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to 6-weeks postoperative immobilization with either an abduction brace or an antirotation sling. Patients were assessed for pain, function on the Constant Murley score and Western Ontario Rotator Cuff Index (WORC), glenohumeral range of motion, and retear on ultrasound out to 6 months or 1 year after surgery. No significant differences between groups at any time point were observed for VAS, CM score, WORC score, or range of motion. No retears in either group were documented.
