Clinical Function Improves After Subacromial Injection of Local Anesthetic in Full-Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears: A Randomized Control Trial

For patients undergoing rotator cuff surgery, pain control is often an issue. Various concomitant injections and nerve blocks have been attempted to help deal with this issue. In this trial, the authors randomized patients to receive a subacromial lidocaine injection or a sham injection (empty needle). At six-month follow-up, there was no significant difference between the groups on any of strength, range of motion, or Constant scores.
