Does the method of component fixation influence clinical outcomes after total knee replacement? A systematic literature review
J Arthroplasty. 2013 May;28(5):740-6. doi: 10.1016/j.arth.2012.09.021. Epub 2013 Feb 28.Eleven randomized controlled trials (n=1053) comparing uncemented and cemented total knee replacements (TKR) were included in this analysis. Due to a large amount of heterogeneity amongst studies, the data was not poolable. Generally speaking, this review found that there was no difference in clinical outcomes between cemented and uncemented TKR at numerous follow-up time points (range 1-10 years). However, this finding remains inconclusive due to the large variability of the included studies.
