No beneficial effect of Polidocanol treatment in Achilles tendinopathy: a randomised controlled trial
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2018 Jul;26(7):2038-204448 patients with Achilles tendinpathy were randomized to intratendinous injection of either polidocanol or lidocaine. The purpose of this study was to determine if polidocanol had a significant, positive effect on walking pain and disease-related function after 3 or 6 months compared to lidocaine. Results for pain during walking demonstrated no significant differences between groups. Two of the five scales in the Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS) demonstrated a significant difference at 3 months, though significance was lost at 6 months. Additionally, no significant difference in Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-Achilles questionnaire (VISA-A) score was observed between groups at 3 or 6 months.
