A Prospective Randomized Comparison of the Efficacy of Ultrasound- vs Fluoroscopy-Guided Genicular Nerve Block for Chronic Knee Osteoarthritis
Pain Physician. 2019 Mar;22(2):139-14680 patients with Kellgren-Lawrence grade II-IV knee osteoarthritis were randomized to treatment with either ultrasound-guided genicular nerve block or fluoroscopy-guided genicular nerve block. Patients were assessed at 1- and 3-month follow-up for outcome related to pain on a numeric rating scale, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and incidence of treatment response. Over 3-month follow-up, no significant differences between groups were observed between groups for any of the assessed outcome measures.
