A randomized controlled trial of fixed- versus mobile-bearing total knee arthroplasty
Bone Joint J. 2018 Jul;100-B(7):925-929. doi: 10.1302/0301-620X.100B7.BJJ-2017-1473.R1240 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to either a mobile-bearing tibial component, a modular-metal-backed fixed-bearing tibial component, or an all-polyethylene fixed-bearing tibial component. The purpose of the current study was to report 10-year survivorship, clinical scores, and range of motion between the three groups. Results at 10 years demonstrated no significant differences between any of the three groups.
