Transforaminal steroid injections for the treatment of cervical radiculopathy: a prospective and randomised study

40 patients with radicular pain in the cervical spine were randomized to either receive treatment via an injection of steroid and local anaesthetic or saline and local anaesthetic. The purpose of this study was to compare the short term effects between these injection therapies. The results at the short term follow up period of 3 weeks showed that the combination of steroids and local anaesthetics did not result in significantly more symptom reduction compared to the combination of saline and local anaesthetics.
