Segmental mobility, disc height and patient-reported outcomes after surgery for degenerative disc disease: A prospective randomised trial comparing disc replacement and multidisciplinary rehabilitation
Bone Joint J. 2013 Jan;95-B(1):81-9. doi: 10.1302/0301-620X.95B1.29829173 patients with degenerative disc disease were randomized to determine the segmental movement, disc height, and sagittal alignment following total disc replacement (TDR). Patients received either TDR or multidisciplinary rehabilitation (MDR), and were assessed after 2 years. Results indicated that there was no significant change in the movement of the sagittal plane. Moreover, there was no correlation between segmental movement or disc height and patient-reported outcomes in either group.
