No improvement in reducing outliers in coronal axis alignment with patient-specific instrumentation
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2018 Sep;26(9):2788-2796. doi: 10.1007/s00167-017-4741-1157 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to surgery completed with either the use of patient specific instrumentation or standard instrumentation. Patients were assessed at 3 months postoperatively, with the primary outcome being the rate of outliers in coronal lower limb alignment, defined as a deviation of 3 or more degrees from neutral. Results demonstrated a significantly higher incidence of lower limb outliers in the PSI group compared to the SI group. Secondary outcomes, included Knee Society Scores, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome scores, operative time, and intraoperative blood loss, did not significantly differ between groups.
