Chronic neck pain and treatment of cognitive and behavioural factors: results of a randomised controlled clinical trial
Eur Spine J. 2012 Aug;21(8):1558-66. doi: 10.1007/s00586-012-2287-y. Epub 2012 Apr 180 patients with chronic neck pain were randomized to receive physical therapy alone or physical therapy with additional cognitive-behavioural treatment to determine the effect of psychosocial factors on the outcome in patients with neck pain. Disability, pain, and quality of life were subjectively assessed over one year post-treatment. The results indicated that there was no difference in outcome of patients that had and had not received additional cognitive-behavioural treatment.
