Randomised placebo-controlled trial on the effectiveness of nasal salmon calcitonin in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis
Eur Spine J. 2007 Feb;16(2):207-12. Epub 2006 Jul 25.Forty patients with lumbar spinal stenosis were randomized to either receive active salmon calcitonin nasal spray, or a placebo spray compare the efficacy of these treatments. The results at 4 weeks and at the end of the trial period (16 weeks) indicated that nasal salmon calcitonin spray did not have any treatment benefits for those with lumbar spinal stenosis, in terms of pain, function, and disability.
