A Multisite Injection Is More Effective Than a Single Glenohumeral Injection of Corticosteroid in the Treatment of Primary Frozen Shoulder: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

研究概要

One hundred patients with primary frozen shoulder were randomized to receive physiotherapy plus a corticosteroid injection administered with a multisite approach (n=50; 38 completed follow up) or a single-site approach into the glenohumeral joint (n=50; 38 completed follow up). Outcomes of interest included pain scores on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), functional status via the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) scores, and range of motion. Outcomes were assessed at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months follow up. Results revealed all outcomes to be statistically in favour of the multisite group compared to the single-site group, at all time-points (p<0.05 for all).
