Pain education combined with neck- and aerobic training is more effective at relieving chronic neck pain than pain education alone - A preliminary randomized controlled trial
Man Ther. 2015 Oct;20(5):686-93Twenty women were randomized to receive either pain education in conjunction with specific training or pain education alone for the treatment of chronic neck pain. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether pain education in conjunction with specific training exerts a more beneficial effect on neck pain, neck muscle activity and postural sway compared to pain education alone. The results found the addition of specific training to pain education to significantly improve neck pain, while resulting in a reduction in mean neck flexor activity and significant improvements in postural sway from baseline to follow-up when compared to pain education alone.
