Exploring Objects With Feet Advances Movement in Infants Born Preterm: A Randomized Controlled Trial

26 preterm infants were randomized to receive either an 8 week movement training program or an 8 week social training program. This RCT was designed to assess the effect of these training programs on feet reaching. The results from this study indicated that movement training in preterm infants leads to an increase in foot-toy contact when compared to the social training program. This study demonstrated that foot-oriented play may provide an early intervention for movement impairments associated with first months of life in preterm infants.
