Therapeutic efficacy of mobilization with movement in early postoperative rehabilitation after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: a double-blind, randomized controlled trial.

Seventy-two patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis undergoing medial UKA were randomized to rapid rehabilitation plus Mobilization with movement (MWM) (n=36) or rapid rehabilitation alone (n=36). The primary outcome was early functional recovery (PROM and HSS). Secondary outcomes included WOMAC (pain, stiffness, function). Outcomes were assessed pre-op, postoperative day 1, and at 2, 4, and 12 weeks. Overall, the results showed that, versus control, the MWM group had higher PROM and HSS and lower WOMAC scores at 2, 4, and 12 weeks. These findings suggest that adding MWM to rapid rehab accelerates early functional recovery after UKA.
