Mobile and fixed-bearing (all-polyethylene tibial component) total knee arthroplasty designs: A prospective randomized trial
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2009 Sep;91(9):2104-12.358 patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive TKA with either mobile bearing or fixed bearing designs. The goal of this study was to compare the functional outcomes of each design, to establish if one treatment is superior. The result from this study indicated that at 2 year follow-up, there were no significant differences between the two groups, in terms of range of motion, KSS clinical and pain scores, and a number of other assessments.
