The effect of mobile application-based rehabilitation in patients with total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

A total of three randomized controlled trials comparing mobile application-based rehabilitation against a control after total knee arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score Joint Replacement (KOOS JR) and active range of motion (ROM). Overall, the results revealed that the KOOS JR favored the mobile application-based rehabilitation group, whereas ROM was comparable between the two groups. These findings demonstrate that mobile application-based rehabilitation represents a viable option post total knee arthroplasty in terms of pain, ROM and function.
