Mobile-bearing versus fixed-bearing total knee implants. Results of a series of 100 randomised cases after 9 years follow-up
Orthop Traumatol Surg Res. 2015 Jun;101(4 Suppl):S187-92.98 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to undergo the procedure using either fixed bearings or mobile bearings. The purpose of the trial was to determine a superior bearing between the two, in terms of clinical and radiographic outcomes over a long-term follow-up period. Findings indicated that the two bearings were comparable in all measured assessments apart from risk of osteolysis, which was found to be greater in the fixed bearing group.
