Sixty patients undergoing spine surgery were randomized to receive either tranexamic acid (TXA; n=30) or a placebo (n=30). Outcomes of interest included hemoglobin level, intraoperative blood loss, drainage volume, total blood loss, units of blood transfused, operative time, incidence of adverse events, and length of stay. Intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower in the TXA group. All other outcomes were similar between the two groups.
