J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2020 May 20;102(10):873-879.Fourty-seven feet from 42 patients were randomized to receive an open distal chevron osteotomy or a minimally invasive distal chevron osteotomy for the treatment of hallux valgus. Outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), the American Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score, the distal metatarsal articular angle, the hallux valgus angle and range of motion. Outcomes were assessed at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 9 months and 5 years post-operation. All outcomes were similar between the two groups up to 5 years post-operation.
