Single mini-incision total hip replacement for the management of arthritic disease of the hip: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

This meta-analysis identified 20 randomized or quasi randomized controlled trials that compared single mini incision total hip replacement to standard total hip replacement in patients requiring surgery for arthritis. The results from pooled data indicated that there were few differences between these approaches. Slightly shorter operative times and hospital stays were reported in the mini incision group, but these differences were not significant. Adverse events, revision, and dislocations postoperatively were uncommon following both procedures, and there were no differences between groups.
