The midterm effectiveness of extracorporeal shockwave therapy in the management of chronic calcific shoulder tendinitis
J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2011 Jul;20(5):845-54. doi: 10.1016/j.jse.2010.10.024. Epub 2011 Jan 139 RCTs (431 patients) were selected for a systematic review to evaluate the midterm efficacy of 6 months follow-up of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) in reducing pain and improving shoulder function for patients with calcific rotator cuff tendinitis. Moderate (Level B) evidence indicated that the therapy was effective in reducing symptoms; however, the data was heterogeneous, not allowing the study of dosage response of the therapy.
